Twenty corrected latents, all rolled forward by the same map. When κ<1 (contraction) every trajectory spirals into the single fixed point — small initial differences (and noise) are forgotten, so it doesn't matter exactly where you corrected to: the rollout is well-posed and converges. Push κ above 1 and the same map flings everything apart — a tiny nudge explodes, "correct-then-roll" becomes nonsense. This is exactly the 1-D error bound, now you can walk around it. Drag to orbit.
