Five memories with fixed similarity scores to a query. The bars are the retrieval weights softmax(β·score). At low β they are nearly uniform — retrieval is a blurry average of all memories (high entropy). Crank β and the best-aligned memory takes essentially all the weight — soft winner-take-all (entropy → 0). Hit anneal β to sweep it. This single knob is the whole difference between "every memory pulls comparably" and "one memory is retrieved."
